Room-by-Room Guide
🛋️ Living Room
Create a grounded, cozy seating area that brings furniture together.
- All Legs On: For large rooms, choose 8'x10'. All furniture sits completely on the rug.
- Front Legs Only: Most popular for apartments. Use a 6'x9' or 5'x8'. Only the front legs of the sofa rest on the rug.
- Coffee Table Only: For compact spaces, a 5'x8' or 4'x6' centered under the coffee table works well.
🛏️ Bedroom
Comfort underfoot when getting out of bed is key.
- Queen / King Bed: An 8'x10' provides generous coverage on both sides.
- Full / Queen Bed: A 6'x9' works well placed perpendicular to the bed.
- Twin Bed: A 4'x6' or 5'x8' is suitable, provided it is laid out sideways across the foot of the bed..
- Placement Rule: Start the rug about 1/3 down from the pillows, stopping just before your nightstands.
🍽️ Dining Room
Ensure functionality so chairs don't catch on the rug edges.
- The 24-Inch Rule: The rug should extend at least 24 inches beyond the table on all sides.
- Chair Safety: This ensures chairs remain on the rug even when pulled out.
- Rectangular Tables: An 8'x10' is usually the safest choice for 6-8 seats.
Measuring Tips
Before You Shop
